COMMUNICATION
We use communication platforms to stay in touch with you and to manage your membership,
e.g. email on our host, see underneath;
e.g. Gmail, see their Privacy Policy here https://policies.google.com/privacy (incl EU US Privacy Shield);
e.g. our own mailer (located in the European Union and GDPR compliant). When you signup to become a GSB member and request our newsletter, you may submit information by email or webforms, and acknowledging that the information you provide is transferred to e.g. our mailer for processing in accordance with our Privacy Policy here.
We’ll send you occasional emails (e.g. our newsletter, the » :: EVENTS telegram :: « ) as well as important updates (e.g. re your membership) to keep you in the loop.
WEB/SERVER/LOGFILES
We use hosting to provide this website and related options. The host runs servers, which also have processing and storage capability. Through the above you can find the information on this site, and you can interact with us. The software at the host server may normally log access data, e.g. the IP, webpage, file, date/time, browser name/version, operating system, etc, e.g. for security or maintenance, for usually about seven days, except if legal requirements dictate otherwise. There is no user registration (and hence no user accounts, no user file/media upload), contact form (different from email list management see above), comment feature, visitor analytics, Akismet, Gravatar, JetPack on this site, but WordFence for protection (which may set cookies for that purpose).
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Only the admin/editor may login and gets harmless WordPress cookies set to that end.
We have legitimate interest in safe, efficient operations.
ADMIN
To ensure historical consistency, so that even if you are to busy to be an active member anymore or after your institutional email address has expired, you can come back anytime as an alumnus, and to that end, we keep records permanently, just like a university. Similarly, contacts and correspondence are kept for legitimate interest. These function might be achieved through the use of e.g. (secured) contact management/email/task software. This allows GSB to be maintained and to grow, and hence offer a stronger network.
EXTERNAL SERVICES
This website might use third party services, such as ReCaptcha, YouTube, Google maps and fonts, or social media, etc, to improve based on legitimate interest e.g. in analysis and efficiency. Hence, the provider will usually record the IP address of the visitor to provide the service/website in return to them. They might also use cookies, web beacons, etc for tracking purposes. Embedded content from another website normally behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. These providers have their own privacy policy.

DATA PROTECTION
While this is no e-commerce website with sales and customer service, we do treasure our members and either encrypt or at least password protect (even with multiple passwords) the member’s data.
As a general rule, we believe GSB must be protected, even against our own imperfection.
DATA BREACH PROCEDURES
In case personal data (oft only an email address is known) of members was lost, we would have no way of contacting them anymore and would be forced to publish asap such loss here, non-personalized, non-targeted.
In case of a data breach, if detected, we would contact respective members asap and let them know that someone (or who specifically, if known to us) got hold of their data.
CHANGE
This Privacy Policy will be reviewed from time to time, and is hence subject to change at any time without notice, just like we improve this site. Using this site shall be interpreted as accepting this Privacy Policy. If anyone disagrees with the site’s Privacy Policy, they may make the choice to not use the site. We not only respect your privacy, but also your freedom.
